How You Can Help:

Dear Friends,

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), has long been one of the least publicly recognized diseases even though it is actually one of the most common neuromuscular diseases worldwide. More Americans are diagnosed with ALS each year than the better-known disease Multiple Sclerosis (MS). ALS is more prevalent than MS, more deadly than MS, more physically devastating, more financially ruinous, and more stressful and taxing to caregivers.

Please join us in taking responsibility for providing a means to cope for our growing list of ALS victims; someone who could easily be your friend or family member. Become a member or sponsor, and a friend of LGDA so that we can together ease the present and daily burdens of ALS from its victims. Your help is needed if we are to fulfill our mission of serving those living with ALS.

You can help by...

Becoming A Member - Association memberships support patient services and care, public awareness and education programs.

Becoming A Corporate Sponsor - Along with an LGDA Certificate of Appreciation and an acknowledgement letter, corporate sponsors receive recognition in LGDA mailings for their generous support, invitations to special events and public recognition. Sponsorships are available at various donation amounts up to $10,000.

Becoming A Major Contributor - In addition to public recognition and appreciation, an LGDA patient services or patient care program will be named on behalf of the contributor with a contribution of $10,000 or more. LGDA Officers will be with you to select a support program of most interest and develop an appropriate name and the level of recognition.

Making A Gift Of Cash - This is the most common form of charitable giving. As with membership fees and sponsorships, an outright gift of cash to the Lou Gehrig’s Disease Association of Southwest Florida, Inc. qualifies as a federal tax deduction.

Donating Medical and Computer Equipment - As evidenced by our loan closet inventory, we are always in need of quality medical equipment for use by our members.  Any mobility, personal comfort, hygiene and communication equipment is needed.  We can adapt your old computers (desktop and laptop) into much needed hardware  to assist our members with their daily communication needs.  Your donation of equipment is also likely to be tax deductible.  If you need assistance with transporting your equipment and supplies, please contact us.

Becoming A Volunteer - Dedicated volunteers are one of the keys to the success of the LGDA. There are many ways for you to get personally involved in the fight against ALS and to support those who suffer with this disease in our community.
