LGDA’s loan closet of durable medical equipment and assistive devices was established by the generous donation of the Harold L. Wilde family and receives continuing support through an annual golf tournament held each spring in his name. Items such as canes, walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, recliners, braces and transfer boards, as well as sophisticated communication devices and state-of-the-art BiPap machines are stored at our closet. These items are loaned out to people who have no insurance coverage or funds to buy them. Additions to our loaner closet are obtained through - direct donations of no longer needed items from patients, families and the medical care community. For tax purposes, all donors will receive a receipt acknowledging the donated equipment or items. Additionally, we have a cost-sharing agreement wherein LGDA provides 51% of the funds to purchase an item and the patient agrees to donate the item to LGDA when it is no longer needed. Our inventory is stored at a convenient location in Sarasota and is maintained and managed by a volunteer medical equipment specialist. The following is a sampling of the items maintained in our loan closet. Please contact us by e-mail or telephone at (941) 496-4057 to verify that the equipment listed below is available or to request an item not listed.
